The Centre attends many agricultural, forestry and research
events such as the Small Holders Garden Festival, the Royal Welsh
Agricultural Show and the Winter Fair, all held at the Royal Welsh
Showground in Builth Wells as well as local Environmental Fairs
and Eco-Festivals. The aim of attending these shows is to promote
energy crops and to provide information to potential growers, end
users, politicians and the general public.
The staff actively promoted energy crops for Wales, presenting
their research findings at conferences to an International audience.
Papers have been presented at various institutions and events in
Austria, California, Germany, Oregon, Idaho, Italy, New Zealand,
Poland, Russia, Spain, France, Sweden, The Netherlands, Vermont,
Ukraine and across the UK. The Centre was represented at the 1st
World Biomass Conference in Seville in 2000 and at the 2nd world
Biomass Conference in Rome in 2004. In addition, the Centre has
been active on the political front having representation on the
Welsh Assembly Woodland Development & Biomass Strategy Groups,
the National Assembly Sustainable Energy Group and advising on
the future Welsh Energy Crops Scheme.
The Centre works with many other bodies and recent collaborations
include with ADAS Wales (Pwllpeiran), The National Botanic Garden
of Wales, Glasu (Leader+ initiative), John Amos & Co, IGER,
Mid-Wales Energy Agency, Carmarthenshire Energy Agency, Pembrokeshire
Bio-Energy Agency Ltd and the National Trust.

The experimental sites planted close to the Centre
are open to visitors (by prior arrangement) and the Centre
holds open days and demonstration events throughout the year. |
The Centre has produced a number of information sheets on aspects
of growing energy crops including: Willow coppice and Miscanthus,
Useful Contacts and Alternative Applications for Willow such as;
Biofiltration, Bio-Engineering, Gardening and Crafts.
